About Us

The Fyrd

We are a living history and reenactment group based in northern Melbourne, established in 2014. Though we take our name from the militias of the Anglo-Saxons, we aim to research and portray crafts and combat of peoples from varying cultures and time periods within the medieval era.

Our “chronological bookends” are the Viking raid of Lindisfarne in 793 and the fall of Constantinople to the Ottomans in 1453. We welcome Vikings, Normans, Saracens, Crusaders, militiamen, mercenaries, lords, ladies, clergy, peasantry and more.
